Thanks, David, for your continuous support, appreciated! It feels like weβre well on our way toward a more self-authored way of working and living π
Fantastic perspective. I needed this today, after having had 4 depressing conversations in 24 hours about AI pushing us into an unemployment crisis. I'm on the portfolio career / life path already, and it's encouraging that this can be and maybe IS the future. This is a positive and helpful perspective among a lot of panic and doom out there right now. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Laura! I feel you. Experiences like yours actually pushed me to commit to researching and writing about the future of work in a more solution-oriented, constructive way - actively looking for the positive visions that already exist. I was getting weighed down by all the doom, which I think often pushes us into anxiety and inertia. And yet there are so many thoughtful solutions and hopeful perspectives out there; they just rarely make it into the mainstream news. Nobody knows how it will play out exactly, but weβve always been very adaptable as humans, so weβll manage it this time too. π
The portfolio career looks like the perfect middle ground for a lot of people between entrepreneur and full time employee. For anyone that doesn't feel quite right in either, this is your path. The best part appears to be the option to adjust - something the current market doesn't encourage.
Agree, Jacob! Itβs a great way to experiment while still keeping some stability. I donβt think we really know whatβs right for us until weβve tried it. I never thought I could be an entrepreneur until I actually was one. π
And the adjusting part is my favourite! I donβt want to do or be just one thing for the rest of my life. I want the freedom to drop something, pick up another component, or simply adjust as life, priorities, and interests change.
Great post Iwana as you know π
Thank you, Rick! βΊοΈπ
This diagram is awesome. My life at 70 is evolving into a portfolio career lifestyle.
Thatβs so great! What are your components now? π
Good piece, it seems many of us found a new way of living π
Thanks, Ramon! I really do hope so. π
So good! I love the idea of a more self-authored way of working and living!

Wow we must all be tuned into the same channel of the collective consciousness lol
Haha, yes, and I hope many more will connect to this consciousness soon. π

ππΎ I love this.
I have been holding space for such reflections βwhat happens when we transit out of the titles we hold?β, βhow is meaningful defined?β
